COLUMBIA SPORTSWEAR'S OUTDOOR GUIDE — Three artists discuss their love of the mountains—and how that passion drives their work.

Rachel Cavanaugh is a long-time journalist based in the Pacific Northwest. With 23 years of experience as a news reporter, writer, editor, digital producer, and content strategist, her work has been featured in The Independent, Outdoor Life, Men's Journal, MSN, The Hollywood Reporter, Gear Junkie, Yahoo, Matador Network, Portland Mercury, Travel Oregon, and other outlets. She's a contributing writer to The Record, Nike's digital magazine, and has worked as a part-time Freelance and Staff Writer for the past 8.5 years on BDG's Commerce team, producing shopping roundups and gift guides for Bustle, Elite Daily, Mic, and Inverse. Rachel is the founder of the Journalist and Media Network (JamNet), which connects lifestyle journalists with brands and PR professionals, and previously spent four years as Editorial Director for Columbia Sportswear's Tough Mother Outdoor Guide, a journalistically styled content platform that tells stories about people and places in the outdoors. She has also worked as Digital Producer for MSN, Outdoor Gear Writer for Digital Trends, and Editor-in-Chief of the Goldendale Sentinel, a weekly newspaper in Western Washington. Rachel currently splits her time between Baja, Mexico where she lives in an RV on the beach, and Hood River, Oregon where she spends her free time kiteboarding, snowboarding, and playing with dogs.
